benjamin hale is an author, essayist and professor of fiction writing whose first novel, the evolution of bruno littlemore, was released by twelve books in 2011 and was a new yorker book of the month. the novel won the michener-copernicus award. he is a graduate of sarah lawrence college and the iowa writer's workshop. at iowa he won the provost's fellowship to write his first novel. he has been a night-shift baker, a trompe l’oeil painter, a cartoonist, an illustrator and a technical writer. he grew up in colorado and now lives in new york. he held a writing fellowship at bard college during the spring of 2012.
