mark belinsky is the co-founder of digital democracy, a nonprofit empowering marginalized communities with technology. his family fled the soviet union as refugees, and their experience informs his work as a technical consultant, documentary filmmaker and grassroots human rights trainer. his projects reach from europe and the middle east to southeast asia, southern africa and the us. mark also consults on new media strategy and produces films on civic engagement with the company new words media, a strategic media firm. mark has spoken at harvard, columbia, nyu and at conferences worldwide on the use of social media and technology to connect local voices and solve crises.
