kaneza schaal is a performer with elevator repair service and the wooster group. she was previously company manager of the wooster group and ran the arts-in-education program. she studied performance in russia, germany, italy, and rwanda. she holds a ba in theater from wesleyan university. she was most recently cast in kathryn bigelow's new international thriller about the assassination of osama bin laden and has also done a reading at symphony space for npr's selected shorts. she frequently works with nyc public school students. kaneza writes, "i've taken great strides in being able to talk about my own work. i was afforded space to -- in fact, pushed to -- think about the personal, economic, and political environment in which my career exists. this sense of context, of my 'professional environment' has influenced the way i make decisions and envision the trajectory of my career."
