david lowery is a filmmaker based in dallas, texas. his work has been shown at festivals around the world, including sundance, sxsw, slamdance and thessaloniki, among others. he is an alumni of the berlinale talent campus, and in 2010 was named an independent icon by ifc films. his short "pioneer" premiered at sundance 2011 and won best short at sxsw, the indie grits festival and the ashland independent film festival. david writes, "to begin with, my feature film, "ain't them bodies saints," was greenlit. in my first fortnight piece, the short film about my daily routine, i referenced the headache that was the development process; subsequent installments involved meetings in la, all related to this film. now, finally, it looks like we're going to begin production. casey affleck, rooney mara and ben foster are starring, and we're shooting in louisiana and texas. i'm actually writing this on a plane back to la, where i've got a few more bits of casting to do. that same short film i made for fortnight got a lot of attention online, and went on to screen at the ashland independent film festival, where it received an honorable mention in the the animation category. also, the marathon i was training for in that film came and went, and i ran it. it was awesome."
